For the winter semester 2021/2022 or later in the Faculty of Applied Computer Sciences, we are offering a 

professorship (male/female/diverse) for the subject area „High Performance Computing/Quantum Computing“

 (salary bracket W2)

We are looking for a person (e.g., from the field of computer science or engineering) with practical competence in the field of HPC and QC as well as their use in various fields of application. 

One of the areas of application of the future job holder is to give lectures in the fields of quantum computing and high performance computing. Active contribution to the newly founded course "High Performance Computing and Quantum Computing" and further study programmes as well as participation in course management in this area is expected. Moreover, the person can also be employed in other areas of the study programme. Particular commitment is expected in service research for industry, in applied research projects, and in the area of technology and knowledge transfer.

To accomplish this comprehensive task, you should have knowledge of quantum computing (QC) as well as the necessary expertise in computer architecture or programming of QC systems. This requires experience and/or research activities in the field of quantum computing.

Experience of conceptual designing, construction and operation of HPC centres and their application and use are also of great advantage. 

The ability and willingness to teach courses in English are a requirement.

Job requirements:

  • Completed university education;
  • Special ability to carry out research work, which is usually demonstrated by a doctorate qualification;  
  • Educational aptitude;
  • Special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in professional practice of a minimum of five years, which must have been completed after obtaining the university degree and of which at least three years must have been completed outside of the higher education sector; in special cases, proof of professional practice outside the higher education sector can be provided by having completed a substantial part of the professional practice of a period of at least five years in cooperation between the higher education and non-higher education sectors.

The position is suitable for severely disabled persons. Severely disabled applicants will be given preference if they essentially have equal qualifications, competence and professional performance.
