General Manager Production (f/m/d)

We, the Wallstein Pharmaceutical Equipment (Haining) Co., Ltd., are part of the successful and dynamically growing Wallstein Group. The Wallstein Group is a family-run internationally operating organisation with around 300 employees located in Germany, China and Poland. For more than 2 decades we are specialists in the manufacturing of plant components in pharmaceutical and medical technology as well as the manufacturing of complex prototypes and sophisticated small series. Furthermore our product portfolio includes complete solutions in the field of energy and environmental technology - from engineering, manufacturing and assembly up to commissioning and maintenance. This includes turnkey heat utilization systems for power plants and waste incineration plants as well as comprehensive technical services. With our innovative maintenance service, we optimize the availability of our customers' plants.

As part of the Wallstein Group's growth strategy, we have set up a new subsidiary in Haining, China in 2022. At this location we have started to manufacture modules and components made of stainless steel for filling and packaging equipment used in the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. For a newly created position we are now looking for a passionate expert to be part of our team as General Manager Production (f/m/d).

 

Your tasks

As General Manager Production, located in Haining/China, you will be profit and loss responsible for our subsidiary whose turnover will significantly increase in the next 2-3 years. You will lead a team of currently 15+ employees (design, manufacturing, procurement, finance, HR), which you will continuously strengthen. In addition, you will ensure proper production flow in terms of cost, quality, deadlines and customer satisfaction. You will be the top point of contact for our customers in China and report directly to the management board in Germany.

  • Lead and develop the production team to reach the productivity and utilization goals.
  • Lead and develop the business administration team to reach cash-flow and profitability goals.
  • Maintain and develop relationships to key stakeholders to set up a successful business network
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and act as entrepreneur by managing the business ramp-up.
  • Act in line with the duties and responsibilities outlined in the company's Articles of Association.
  • Maintain budgets and optimize expenditures.
  • Evaluate and improve operational and financial performance.
  • Prepare periodic reports for the management board.
  • Establish policies and procedures.
  • Develop strategy and set goals for growth.
  • Ensure employee productivity and professional development.
  • Oversee the hiring and training of new employees.
  • Ensure employees comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Drive problems to solutions with hands on mentality and taking ownership & accountability
    (e.g., declining profits, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors).        

 

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration or Engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a GM or Plant Manager in manufacturing operations or 5-10 years of experience with increasing leadership responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment regarding controlling/finance including budgeting and forecasting, setting, and measuring KPIs, and staff recruitment.
  • Strong knowledge regarding lean management, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Intercultural communication skills and global mindset.
  • Preferable experience in working for a small and medium sized company.
  • Entrepreneur skills (working in environments that are not set yet).
  • Hands-on mentality.
  • English business fluent.
